Supplemental notice is given that the Alaska Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission, proposes to adopt a regulation change in Title 20, Chapter 05 of the Alaska Administrative Code, dealing with an optimum number for the Bristol Bay salmon drift gillnet fishery including the following:

The Commission proposes to adopt 20 AAC 05.1147 to establish an optimum number of entry permits for the Bristol Bay salmon drift gillnet fishery.  The Commission is continuing to propose an optimum number from 800 to 1200 permits.  However, depending on public comment and further analysis an optimum number finally adopted could have different boundaries.

This is a SUPPLEMENTAL NOTICE adding to the NOTICE OF PROPOSED CHANGES that was issued on October 22, 2004 noticing this regulatory proposal.  The supplemental notice is being issued because the Commission has decided to hold additional public hearings and to extend the public comment period until June 22, 2005.

The Bristol Bay Salmon Drift Gillnet Fishery Optimum Number Report, upon which the Commission based its optimum number regulatory proposal for the Bristol Bay drift salmon gillnet fishery is available without charge at the Commissionís web site,  Requests for paper copies should be submitted to Susan Haymes at the address listed above with a $10.00 fee for each copy.  An executive summary of the report is also available at the commissionís web site or by request without charge.

After the public comment period ends, the Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission will either adopt these or other provisions dealing with the same subject without further notice, or decide to take no action on them. The language of the final regulations may be different from that of the proposed regulations. YOU SHOULD COMMENT DURING THE TIME ALLOWED IF YOUR INTERESTS COULD BE AFFECTED.
