Abstract:
This report was prepared as part of CFEC's study during the SE dungeness crab
moratorium as called for under AS 16.43.225. The study takes a close look at
the 1990 dungeness crab fleet, to try to breakdown and describe its different
components, particularly the many different types of part-time operations. The
fleet is differentiated by fishing patterns, both by season and across fisheries,
vessel attributes, pots registered, and home port. An interesting result of the
analysis is that vessels which specialize in Southeast dungeness crab tend to
be smaller.
